IEEE-VESIT came up with a TechQuiz - a test of technical knowledge, speed, observing skills and the ever important killer instincts!!!!!!!

It started off with  2 elimination rounds- the first one being a general paper quiz and the next one was an interactive session. Any number of teams comprising of 2 members were entitled to participate in the eliminations. Then came the semifinals. Eight teams from the elimination rounds were shortlisted to participate in the semis. There were two legs of semifinals-4 teams in each. The semifinals were conducted in the AudioVisual room. The rounds this time were even more interesting , as the style of questions were different. They had different rounds like-general tech related questioning, rapid fire round, AudioVisual round, theme round, etc. The speciality of the semis was that the teams had been initially assigned a particular theme before the quiz on which they had to come prepared. The teams then faced  their particular theme based questions in the buzzer round.

The FINALS proved to be a cracker of a contest!! The number of rounds had increased to seven, and were even more challenging ones. Some rounds witnessed some really hardcore technical questions. Questions ranged from the wide fields of C programming, network security, microprocessors, storage systems, etc. It even had a 10 mindocumentary round where a short film based on 'general data transfer in a network' was screened and questionsbased on the film were thrown at the finalists.

Some of the key features that added colour to the quiz were: the marking systems. Teams in the buzzer rounds were slapped with negative points for wrong answers. The buzzers that were used were electronic switches, so accurate and fair proceedings were ensured. The semis and the finals were brilliantly hosted by Gayatri K, Abhay R, Vivek R,Vineet P, Bhavna M and Manisha H .Audiences were also involved in the quiz and were awarded freebies for guessing the answers rightly!

The IEEE TechQuiz indeed proved to be a  highly innovative, interactive, educative and a brain storming one!
